Just back from guiding on the highest peak in The Lyngen alps, Jiehkkevarri 1884m. The summit plateu consists of big glaciers and in order to get to the top you traverse over three neighbouring summits. A great experience which do not involve that much technical climbing but it´s steep hiking in places and it´s a proper alpine experience.
Now is also the time to start planning next winters skiing in the Lyngen alps. Our ski touring program with boat accessed ski touring is getting more and more popular. March is always a month when we have a lot of mixed conditions. It´s been windy and warm lately with occasional rain showers. More snow is around the corner as we´re filling up The Ascent Descent Ski Lodge in Lyngen with guides and groups. The best time of the year for skiing in the Lyngen alps has started and we´re not stopping until June and summer arrives.

Just back from two fantastic weeks of travelling and skiing on Hokkaido, Japan. A perfect way to start the season, get the legs started and motivating for a long ski touring season in The Lyngen alps. As a group of 5 we made a loop starting out of Furano and finishing with two day of skiing in Niseko, skiing for 9 days in total and 6 different resorts. All the resorts and places we visited unique in it´s own way and I can´t wait to get on my next flight, back to Hokkaido. With a packed guide season in The Lyngen alps coming up it looks like next trip to Hokkaido will be in January 2016, definitely worth waiting for…

Summer is just around the corner and we start off with a well deserved vacation after a hectic ski season in The Lyngen alps. Our summer activities this summer will start from the 10 of July. We will have hiking day tours in Tromsø and Lyngen, guided alpine and rock climbing for all levels and visit the alpine peaks in the Lyngen alps and more… We offer mountain activities for all levels and needs this summer so please check the web page for updates regarding the different activities. AscentDescent “The Lyngen Mountain Guides” have been specialized on the ski touring in the Lyngen alps for years know and when booking a ski week with us you get the full Lyngen experience. For 2014 we have a boat waiting in the harbor near the lodge, great accommodation with lot´s of space for up to 8 people and great dinners for hungry skiers. We work with private groups up to 8 people and we are located in one of the most beautiful areas in the Lyngen alps with great skiing just outside the door. We still have a few weeks available for booking so there is still a chance of joining our tours for 2014!
