Spring in The Lyngen Alps

Warmer temperatures is just around the corner and the forecast looks good for those who like sunny days in the mountains. The spring in the lyngen alps often means spring skiing in the lower regions and powder up high in northern aspects. So, it looks good for groups coming skiing with us in May and there is a few weeks open still for groups to come skiing with us…

April in the Lyngen alps

April has come in the lyngen alps and it´s been a great ski touring season so far. Pretty warm compared to what we normally expect but in return we´ve had some great and stable snow conditions for long periods of time. It´s been snowing recently here and it feels like winter again which is good for the rest of the season. We keep guiding from our base in northern Lyngen until end of May but after that ski weeks is over and we are back to guiding in the Tromsø and Lyngen area in general. Ski season naturally transforms into alpine and climbing season here and conditions are becoming great for the Jiekkevarri massif and climbing on Kvaløya.

When the sea is calm we sometimes try to catch some fish on the way back from skiing. Really nice to turn of the engine on the boat and just enjoy the nature for a moment also. Photo: Jimmy Halvardsson

Lyngen high season

We have just entered the high season in the Lyngen alps and great snow conditions arrived with it. Yesterday was a big powder experience when weather cleared after days of constant snow fall.

The AscentDescent ski lodge concept that we operate together with Lyngsalpan Cruise has also grown and we present high standard accommodation in Lyngen and ski packages for multiple groups the whole season. All groups have their own private chalet and guide and it looks like interested groups should start making plans for 2017 all ready. Fully booked this season, except for some weeks in late May, and it looks like the ski touring in The Lyngen alps is growing for every year.

Skiing down from this epic summit yesterday was one of the best we´ve had. Counting endless skiing on this mountain over a period of 12 years. Photo: Jimmy Halvardsson

AD Ski Lodge

Ok, word is out… A new chalet just popped up and was ready some weeks ago. Presenting full package ski weeks since many years now but with our new chalet and sauna department we´ve also managed to expand to meet increased popularity of the area and on our company and tours. AscentDescent Ski Lodge Lyngen

Finishing of the Lyngen skitouring season with a great ski weekend at the AscentDescent Ski Lodge in The Lyngen alps. Last weekend of May has been our season finisher for years now even if guiding continues in the range from other locations. Guiding non stop in the Lyngen alps from late February to early June makes for a great summer vacation and preparing for a new season.

Happy days at AscentDescent Ski Lodge in The Lyngen alps

May is here and one of the finest periods in the Lyngen alps. AscentDescent Ski Lodge is filled up to the end of the season and lately we´ve had a great mix of visitors enjoying some fantastic spring skiing. Great team from Gothenburg last week who probably made the highest score of the season when it comes to good weather and conditions. Just finished a few days with a pro skier team from Sweden and Finland enjoying the Lyngen couloirs! New groups rolling in tonight…
