Ski mountaineering in the Lyngen alps

A great week is ended here in Lyngen and it was a very nice finish of this fantastic ski season. Having three students and one visiting aspirant guide doing his final practice with us made this week a truly good experience for everyone. Starting off with camping and avalanche training and moving into steeper adventures as the days moved on… Couloir skiing, Glacier travel, navigation, rope works and climbing steep snow. Lyngen is fantastic in early summer and normaly we have snow lower down but this spring has been unusually warm and sunny. This week was also warm and sunny but it was all to the better for us. Enjoying midnight sun, epic spring skiing and good atmosphere all week made this week a special one. Thanks to all!

Summer is moving in here and a well deserved family vacation awaits on the doorstep…

From July to September we go trekking, glacier walking, rock climbing and summer mountaineering here so please send a request for these activities in Tromsø and Lyngen!

Best Regards / Jimmy Halvardsson

All time snow record in Nord-Lenangen?

In Nord-Lenangen in the Lyngen alps the snow gods has been giving us days and days with the white stuff.. Hard wind now and then but in general the ski touring is fantastic. As alway the visibility comes and goes here, even in the worst of weather, so just being out on the mountain normaly pays off! A couple of weeks since last update here but we have been out on the mountain daily since then and it´s been good times… The conditions does not really allow us to go in very steep terrain at the moment but skiing powder is always fun!

Opening of the lyngen ski touring season

Opening the doors here in Nord-Lenangen last sunday and so far it’s been a great start of the season. Lot’s of snow, pretty cold, nice people and good skiing. Every morning when waking up we have 20cm of fresh snow outside and today we had good visibility as well! Stepping carefully at the moment since we have avalanche danger out here but there is plenty of tours wich can be done anyway. With a packed program this winter and lot’s of new stuff going on we welcome all of you who have booked tours with us in the Lyngen Alps. See you soon! Jimmy

End of Lyngen season

Doing this winters last guiding day yesterday with six norwegian skiers from the Oslo area. We had skied the previous 3 days in Lyngen and now it was time to visit Ulstinden on the Tromso mainland. Great peak, with a nice view over Lyngen. A bit windy yesterday but with clear sky and good snow cover. The snow was sticking pretty bad to the skis on the way down but not slowing us down to much ; ) Now it’s time to move south for a little vacation. Starting the summer season on the 20th of june. Gonna keep updating about climbs etc meanwile. Enjoy summer!
