As a IFMGA mountain guide I have to deal with avalanche safety on a daily basis. Mostly in wintertime when ski touring or climbing but also in summer when travelling in high mountain terrain. Balancing between safety and fun all day long is tricky for everyone. We all travel in the mountains for different reasons but normaly we all want to have good fun and get down safely in the end of the day.
In 2016 we launch three weekends early season in the Lyngen alps focusing on avalanche issues and ski touring safety skills. Our aim is to build a base of knowledge for skiers who want to learn about track making, terrain evaluations and avalanche awareness. We also focus on group behaviour in the mountains and different ways to reduce risk when skiing. This is also a great option for locals to spend some time at the Ascent Descent Ski Lodge and get some quality days of skiing in before the main season starts.
These weekends is also suitable for skiers who want to meet other skiers from the region. The main focus is to have a great time together and get some really good skiing in in between learning and coaching in the mountains.
